Dank Videos That Make Me Happy

Hello fellow 2019 Fall students. I want to start by giving a brief introduction to myself. My name is Ricardo Deodutt and I am a computer science major with a CT minor.

There are a lot of things that make me happy on the internet. I love games, music, and surfing the internet for funny content. This video below me by far is making me happy. I found this video while surfing through Twitter.

(Video is loud)

This  GIF  below  sums  up  my  reaction  to  that  video.

I honestly thought this video was going to be a next viral trend like the water bottle flip challenge.

What’s Making Professor Seslow Happy on the Internet?

So here we are, officially jumping into CT101 this week. We have a ton of great stuff to cover, learn, share, create, apply, rinse and repeat this semester! Assignment #1 asks you to share; What is making you happy on the Internet?  You can find the link to that assignment here – <– Thats right, we can do cool things like hyperlink any kind of text or verbiage that we want and have it redirect us. We can make an image or an animated GIF like the one above – also a “clickable thing” that redirects to another page or place on the Internet. That IDEA in and or itself makes me very happy! So in essence, the creative and practical functionality of the Internet as a whole makes me really happy. Lets dig a bit deeper..

The still image above is taken from my profile on GIPHY. (go ahead and click on the image of the hyperlinked word to find my “stock” of animated GIFS. You can use them and embed them almost anywhere on the web. Thats the beauty of GIPHY.com – its a search engine for animated GIFs and animated Stickers, like I said, its Internet culture. Internet culture makes me happy!

I love to make animated GIFS! And guess what, you are going to learn how to make them in our class! I love GIFs and feel that they are a huge part of Internet culture. Come on now, we all love animated GIFS! I made both of the GIFs in this blog post. These two are many of the thousands that I have made (did I say thousands? yikes, its true, I cant stop!) I blame Professor Michael B. Smith for this as he got me into GIFs and making them! Be sure to check out his blog here.

September is Deaf Awareness Month, that makes me happy!  It gives me an opportunity to use the Internet as a platform to share information about Deaf culture and to help hearing people get a better insight and understanding of what it is like to be deaf and hard of hearing. Im deaf and hard of hearing, could you tell from our first meeting? Ill bet you couldn’t! Ill share some stories with you this week in class. (Im full of surprises!)

I recently discovered that the company called STARKEY released a hearing loss simulator on the web. This is huge because it helps people with both normal hearing actually simulate and understand what it is like to experience various levels of hearing loss in various situations. It might make you both a little scared and also over empathetic as experience changes the way we think and understand things. Click the image to get started. (probably best to do outside of class)

OK, so those are a few things that are making me happy on the Internet as well as a few ways that I “use” the Internet.

PS – Did you notice the formatting for this blog post? Notice how my images are the same size and how everything has been aligned to the left? This is intentional and it helps the viewer/reader easily absorb the content. You too will learn how to apply a similar format, though it may see a bit tricky to manage at first, you will easily get the hang of it! Lets jump in!

Did you know Vladimir Putin made memes illegal in Russia? ou didn’t? Well now you know. Anyways, aside from that I just finished watching a video called What’s ”The Deal With Internet Comedy”. This video talks about the interent’s own kind of comedy away from the Sitcoms and Stand Ups that you see on television. Internet comedy is something you can just find without having to wait for it. You can go on reddit, 4chan, tumblr, twitter, any place that provides comedy. I have to agree with the dark comedy aspect. The controversial side of things. Now I’ll admit I’m one of those people who gets a laugh at very dark topics. Although if they’re not clever it’s tasteless to me. It helps us laugh during dark times, it’s something that can be exercised if you actually want good emotions. I bet most of us are guilty of actually laughing at one of these. Furthermore Internet comedy is not something you can simply put on television. It’ll either be too offensive, something not everyone will understand, and matter of fact not even be funny at all. It’s enough to get the show that aired it to be taken off the air. People nowadays are too sensitive and get rustled by a simple joke. Filthy Frank for example, he provides tons of offesnive comedy but he pretty much makes fun of everyone and everything, people get ”butt-hurt” over his content. These people do not understand the definition of a joke, like at all. The internet is the safe haven for this kind of comedy, where we are free to joke about things we want, laugh, and not get attacked by sensitive people who can’t ignore a joke.~
