For my assignment I would like for you guys to triple troll three of your favorite artist. To triple troll means you will take the picture of one artist, the song lyric of another, and then quote it as another artist.

Here is my example:

The three artists I used was Chris Brown, Drake, and Kanye. The lyrics are actually Drake from Nicki Minaj‘s song Only that he featured on.

I used an app called Aviary, it is very easy and simple to use. I just picked a picture, clicked edit and added text onto the original picture. Enjoy and post your creations into the comments.

So it’s the end of the semester and I had to do an analysis paper on this play called “Strange Worlds In My Mind” written and directed by Kristine Lee. She is an Asian woman that one day saw an afro-futurism exhibit in a Harlem museum and thought it would be a great idea to write a play pertaining to black history. EXACTLY my first reaction was:

The play was absolutely horrible. The based of the play was about a guy named Sun Ra and the struggles of black people. Okay, so someone please tell me what Kristine Lee knows about the “struggles of black people”. The play was very strange as are her other plays. Don’t believe me about how terrible her plays are? Here is a article in the New York Times about her most recent play entitled “War Lesbian”.  Lee has this way of seeing the world in a weird and crazy way and wanted to do her best to display that in theater. My opinion? Give it a rest sweetie.

After writing and handing in my analysis of the play the TA490 professor gave me B on the paper stating that it wasn’t enough details as to why the play was terrible. However that was by far the worst class/professor I have had yet. I am so glad the semester is over and with that being said:

“Oh That Was Your Girl? I Thought I Recognized Her”

So as many of you may know there has been talk of Drake stealing Chris Brown‘s now ex girlfriend Karrueche. Over the past week or so there were so many memes and jokes about the whole situation but I think I have to say that my all time favorite joke about this situation was this […]

Come On Drake lol

So as many of you may know there has been talk of Drake stealing Chris Brown‘s now ex girlfriend Karrueche. Over the past week or so there were so many memes and jokes about the whole situation but I think I have to say that my all time favorite joke about this situation was this “meme video” from FaceBook.

If you guys remember this isn’t the first time Drake has “taken” one of Chris Brown’s girls. Drake was also accused of taking Rihanna from Drake. Sorry Trey but I’m starting to think that Drake is Mr. Steal Yo Girl.

To get the Music Journal going I say we start off basic and get a little more advanced as we go along. For our first journal entry we are going to:

Pick a favorite song (and include a link to it on YouTube), then answer the following:

–Why do you like it?

–What makes it memorable / interesting?

–What elements of the song would you like to incorporate into your own music?

Although it’s not my favorite song, the song I chose was Loyal by Chris Brown ft Lil Wayne and Tyga. I like it because to me it’s a “feel good” type of song that everybody can enjoy. Although with deep research some may find the song’s lyrics to be rude, but that’s all subjective. I think with songs like this most people tend to listen to the beat and melody more so than the words. The song is catchy and that’s what makes it enjoyable, and the fact that the lyrics could stand true in anyone’s life.
I think the beginning of the song is the most memorable. Those fast few keys that play in the beginning is recognizable to anybody as “Loyal”, and you don’t get that with a lot of songs now a days. There are plenty of times I am listening to the radio, a song comes on and as I get ready to sing I realize it’s actually a totally different song. A lot of songs on the radio have the same or similar sound and/or beat. Whereas this song has a beginning that’s unique and sets it apart from other songs.
The top elements of this song that I would like to incorporate into my own music are its uniqueness and its feel good approach. I believe that people are more likely to buy/listen to music that makes them feel good. Whether it makes you think like Kanye West’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” or makes you want to party like Kid N’ Play’s “Aint Gon Hurt Nobody”, people want music they can feel. If I could produce music that has the power to change or enhance someone’s attitude I have done my job. Also I think adlibs can really make or break a song, so I would like to learn how to effectively use adlibs.
