Week 2 – Tuesday -9/3  &  Thursday – 9/4 –

Tuesday section meets today 9/3 – *Read this – Making me happy post

During our class, we will dig into the process of logging into our class website and publishing our first blog post! (The Whats making happy on the Internet assignment)

Ryan will share his example of whats making him happy on the Internet

**The Thursday section does NOT meet this week (You will follow a Monday class schedule on 9/4) Thursday section students can follow along and click through anything you find”clickable” here. Thursday section students are not required to “publish” anything this week. Just follow along.

 

Week 3 – Tuesday -9/10  &  Thursday – 9/12 – 

*Tuesday Section (only) 9/10 – Making our first GIF! My first GIF post

Imgur and Giphy are great platforms to explore and create with! Lets check out both, its free! This week, outside of class please create a NEW blog post and embed a series of new Reaction GIF s that speaks your feelings about our class and what the potentials are (yes, you can make more this flow like a story!)

Week # 4 – Tuesday 9/17  & Thursday 9/19 –

Tuesday section – Lets dig into these two assignments, both are chock full of useful information – Flexibility in the kinds of Digital Storytelling projects you do.

And, here is another assignment to get your creative juices flowing! Are Memes Art? What do you think? Will you respond by making a Meme to share you feelings about CT101?? Lets learn a few new skills using adobe photoshop in our class session!

Week #5 – Tuesday 9/24 & Thursday 9/26 – 

Tuesday Section – Last week we spoke about the opportunity to discover and explore the DS106 Repository of Creative assignments. Did you decide upon an assignment and publish your blog post about it? If so, how far along are you in the process of actually completing the project you selected? Lets craft a blog post together on what that may look like, including screen grabs and process narration.

**PS- Did you create a MEME that includes the Words “CT101” yet? If not, lets get that done!

Thursday Section – 10/3 – Lets have a look at this project – Panoramic Storytelling with Multiplicity

Lets say its a Class collaboration with the Pano-project – examples & More will be shared! Prepare for awesomeness..

Week #7 – Tuesday 10/8(no class)  &  Thursday 10/10 –

Thursday Section  10/10 -YES! It is time to start building our own websites!  Picking a Domain Name, Getting a Web hosting Account, and Installing WordPress  

(This is a technical class session that requires a specific demonstration, if you are not in attendance on 10/10 – please wait until next week to get started on this)

 

Week #8 – Tuesday 10/15  &  Thursday 10/17 –

Tuesday Section  – 10/15 -Welcome Back! YES! It is time to start building our own websites!  Picking a Domain Name, Getting a Web hosting Account, and Installing WordPress  

Thursday section – 10/17 – last Thursday we had very poor attendance as a whole, I will go over this process again at the beginning of our class – Picking a Domain Name, Getting a Web hosting Account, and Installing WordPress

  1. The ZINE COLLAB PROJECT is DUE!Please e-mail to me your 8.5 X 11″ JPG. file this week! E-mail the JPG. 2. Its time to play catch up and re-review! Lets take a few minutes to go through the calendar above and see what we might be missing. Did you miss any of the assignments above? Or, perhaps its time to revise your weakest blog post. Lets take stock and begin writing our Final Blog Post!

3. Not mandatory, but are you looking for one last creative project to work on? Perhaps you will consider using an artifact from an archive and using it for a bit of remix! There’s a great DS106 assignment from a few years back that is still popular which asks you to rework the message of a propaganda poster into one for this class. Consider any of the techniques and tools previously used in class to make something from the archives. Rather than propaganda, lets work with Vintage Travel posters!

*CT101 Final Presentations & Final Blog Post Information*

**Please read all of the information below carefully & mark your calendars**

  1. *Final Website Presentations: Each student will be presenting their personal websites to the class on the date listed below. Students will give a short-guided tour of their website and share a few words on successes, frustrations and an over-all assessment of our course. Each student will have 4-5 minutes to do this. Your website presentation is Mandatory.

*The Tuesday section of CT101 will give their final website presentations on TUESDAY 12/17 – from 10AM-12PM

*The Thursday section of CT101 will give their final website presentations on THURSDAY 12/19 – from 10AM -12PM 

2.**Final Blog Post Submission – Each student will write and publish a Final course reflection blog post. (You can publish the post to your own website or to the CT101 website. You will E-Mail the link URL of this blog post to me – rseslow@york.cuny.edu  no later than Thursday 12/19 at Midnight. The e-mail subject should say: “Final Blog Post Submission” Your final blog post is Mandatory, and must include answering the questions below:

The final blog post will be a detailed re-cap of what you have learned in CT101, and what grade have earned in our class? (Yes, you must include this!) What did you enjoy about our class and how you will apply your new skills into the world. Will you maintain and keep up your website? If so, how? If not, Why not? Your final blog post should include a culmination of images, videos, GIFs, hyperlinks and writing. Please let this post display the best of your skills sets learned and applied! (Images, GIFs, Hyperlinks and supporting Verbiage!)
