This Is the END!!!!!

This semester has been one for the storybooks. I started off this semester not knowing what to do with this class. Or not knowing what this class would be like. I knew yeah, it had to deal with one of my few wonders in life, the computer, but I didn’t know what exactly to expect from this class. Going throughout this semester, I learned a few noticeable things while taking an interest in the class itself. I learned how to Supercut, which is like mashing together scenes from movies or tv shows to make a specific point or to show humor. I learned how to create a GIF animation by using Imgur. I’ve also learned how to create a musical mashup of me, myself and I, as if I was in a girl group. I did learn how to reverse a song too, which was fun trying to have someone guess what the song was originally. I had fun learning how to do new things that I never knew how to do.

In this class, we had the opportunity to create a website, choosing the name was really difficult but I named it  “Love Yoursz” based off of one of my favorite songs by J. Cole and I really enjoy posting random thoughts and random things that I do on a daily basis today or even lessons ive learned from dealing with certain situations in life . Though this website was only for the class, I think I would keep it for the duration of time that I can have it for free or maybe ill even pay to keep it after .

I really enjoyed this class and would love to do more courses in communication technology. Thanks Ryan .

Last week in class we created our webpages using the instructions on the guide that the professor gave us. Each of us had to come up with a domain name that we would want to share with the world that actually meant something to us… I chose one of my favorite songs and the title of it to use as my name. “Love Yourz” by J. Cole …my domain name is Love Yoursz…

Supercut: TVD style

Picking an idea for this assignment was so difficult for me. I read the assignment and explored the site that was posted ( and saw many types of ideas that appealed to me and some that did not. Over time i came up with an idea but i was not able to come up with enough clips for the video to be long enough. The first idea that i came up with was clips of people saying the word “divergent” in the films “Divergent” and “Insurgent “starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James, but unfortunately i only came up with 5 clips, which when remixed into a video was 5 seconds long.

Since I’m such a romantic at heart, i like all that “lovey – dovey”and cliche things,  I decided to compile a video of my favorite TV couple telling each other “I Love You” . My favorite TV couple is Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert from the CW show “The Vampire Diaries“.

Whether you are fighting or genuinely just being mushy, you can tell a person I Love You in many different tones….

I edited this movie with Movavi Video Editor because i have a Windows 8 HP laptop and it doesn’t have iMovie on it, so i googled different type of movie editor softwares that were free and i came up with that software that was free for 7 day trial version. The clips i got of The Vampire Diaries were from Youtube, from seasons 1 – 6 in which Elena and Damon professed their love for one another, where they were either arguing, fighting, sad or genuinely expressing love they had for one another.

Creativity vs. Copyriting

Copyrighting is a legal right created by law that grants a creator of an original specific type of work exclusive rights to the use and distribution of the work. The exclusive rights are not set in concrete , there are certain limitations to the law such as fair use. Fair use is leeway around being able to use the original work but there are factors that has to be followed , such as:

1. the content and purpose in which the original work is being used

2. the amount or portion of the work that is being used

3. the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the original work

One thing that I’ve noticed is that being creative and showing creativity in a transformation or replication of a work , can also be a way of breaking this copyright law.

For example, Robin Thicke’s Blurred Line (ft. T.I. and Pharrell Williams) has recently been brought up for a case where they are being accused of stealing the music of an original song.

It has been brought up that Robin Thicke’s song had infringed upon Marvin Gaye’s song ” Got to Give it Up”, Robin Thicke says that “he and Pharrell Williams were in the studio and were playing around with beats and wanted to make a song that had a feel of his favorite song which was “Got To Give It Up” by Marvin Gaye”. This case was in court for about a week , and Marvin Gaye’s children swore up and down that the two songs were too close to be coincidence. They were suing for $7 million. Personally, i believe that these two songs may have the same feel but there are creatively different and there arrangements are different .

The article below follows the case:

What do you think, are these songs the same or creatively different?
