So October is finally here! I’m excited because September was such a drag to me and it felt like it was never going to end. I was waiting for October to start because it’s one of my favorite months where the weather isn’t horrible yet, the leaves are changing color, everyone decorates their homes for Halloween, all the good TV shows come back, etc.
In addition, October just means we are getting closer to the end of the semester which I’m happy about since I’m a Senior. I hope the month of October is full of great surprises and we do some cool stuff in this class.
I hope you guys enjoy my post as I decided to do something a little different than what we usually post. Is anyone else excited about October? Let me know! 🙂
So this was the first time I have ever used photoshop and it was frustrating because I was following the instructions in the tutorial, but my GIF wasn’t coming out the way I wanted it to. However, with Professor Ryan’s help, I was able to successfully create my first animation!
It felt really good to be able to do something properly especially since it was my first time working on photoshop. I look forward to doing more of these and enhancing my skills as the semester moves along.
I picked the cartoon character Timmy Turner from the Fairly Odd Parents because I was just watching that show with my niece and nephew before coming into class. We usually watch it Here and read about it sometimes on a Wiki page dedicated to the character. It also reminded me of my childhood so I decided to animate this photo for fun 🙂
Last week, I didn’t get to work with a partner and discuss the different media types and projects we are interested in because of how slow the internet was. The website was crashing and barely anyone was able to get through. Nevertheless, I browsed through the sites and picked out some stuff that appealed to me.
For the first project, I would really love to do the A-Z Photo Collage
I picked this from the DS106 Assignment Bank. I am a big fan of photo collages and photography so this interested me. Also, the A-Z aspect of it seemed like a fun challenge as well. For this project, I would have to make an alphabetically themed collage and compile images to represent each letter of the alphabet within a chosen subject area or theme.
I don’t think I need to learn any specific storytelling skills to do this assignment unless Im going to complete it in a different way than it asks to. I do think however, that we should be doing these kinds of projects maybe once or twice every few weeks. They seem fun and could be a challenge. In addition to that, this assignment can be done in so many different ways so it would be interesting how everyone interprets it differently.
For the second project however, I chose something entirely different from the first. I picked an assignment that allows an individual to Create Their Own Story Line . To do this assignment, I could pick any secret agent and create an alternate story line for that character. I decided to pick this assignment because it can help take my writing skills to a new level. It also allows you to create a story line that is completely different and doesn’t exist so this gives me full creativity. Since this is a storytelling class, I decided this would be fitting. It will also allow me to brush up on my writing skills which are important on a daily basis.
At first I was running out of options and couldn’t find an elective to take. I could take whatever class I wanted but nothing interested me. I went through CUNY first multiples times and …nothing.
But thankfully, a friend of mine suggested I take this class and I decided to just go for it last minute because it fit my schedule and I haven’t taken a class like this before.
Im the type of person who likes to go with the flow and deal with things as they come up so I had no expectations coming in.
But after the first day, I thought this class might seem like fun so I was excited to learn and have fun at the same time. It also didn’t seem like a stressful class so I was relieved.
So far, I am really enjoying the assignments and playing around the CT101 website to get more familiar with it. Im hoping to learn more about WordPress and blogging in general. It might inspire me to continue blogging!
But then I realized the Wifi might complicate things… which was annoying.
Overall, I think this class has a lot of potential and we can all learn a great deal from it. I’ve always wanted to learn more about blogging, how to use photoshop, be more tech savvy, etc. Im hoping this class teaches us skills we can use in the real world. Till next time!
So for this post, I was a little stuck because there are a number of things that make me happy but very few that are actually on the internet. I love the internet because there is no end to it. You can go from one thing to another and learn so much in a matter of hours. I probably wouldn’t be able to survive without it. But does it make me genuinely happy? Not really or maybe just a few things do. It took me a while to think about it. I’m someone who is open to everything. I’ll watch any TV show, read any type of genre, eat any type of food, listen to all types of music, etc.
Recently, I’ve been searching for a new show to watch. Some of my favorites have either ended or aren’t coming back anytime soon. Ive had people ask me if I watch Game of Thrones and I never did. It’s about noble families fighting over who would ultimately rule, while forgotten species return after thousands of years. It sounded interesting and something I would like but I just never got around to doing so. People thought I was crazy for not watching it! So seven seasons later, here I am finally making the time to watch it. There is only one problem… I couldn’t find it anywhere (with good quality that is). Netflix and Hulu aren’t allowed to stream it. Thankfully with the help of the internet and some research I found all seven seasons on Amazon!
I’m only on season 2 right now but I’m enjoying this show!
I love the concept of the show and its one thing that has made me happy this week. The internet is a gem.
Hope you enjoyed!
