I got my site up and running on WordPress and I was very excited about creating a domain and having it as my own. At first I was very confused and unsure of how to go about starting my new site. However, I watched the tutorial that Ryan and Michael give on YouTube, which was mostly helpful, but I was still unclear about a few of the steps. Nonetheless, one of my classmates guided me through setting up my site. This was a very simple process and my classmate who is a CT major made the tutorial like a total walk through.
I chose to go with “Rosannasingh19” as my domain because I tend to associate my name whenever I create something and I was very comfortable with my domain. Also, I was pleased to find that the domain of my choice was available at the first attempt. The installation process was quite interesting and thought-provoking as well, since I initiated then and there that there is so much that I can create and have now that I have a domain of my own.
Now that I have a domain, I can do a lot to personalize my site. For instance I am majoring in Journalism and it is something that I enjoy doing, and there is so much that I can use about my profession and myself on my site. I have not exactly put together the precise details which I want to use for my site but I am still putting together my ideas. I decided to have Rosannasingh19 as my domain since it is my name, which was given to me by my father. It is sentimental to him and me as well, so I figured that I would want to have it as my domain and do something creative with it. I am looking forward in doing a lot of mind breaking thing with my domain, while I plan it out.
I got my site going, it’s quite interesting. The best part of this activity was that I was able to help my classmate Maggie sign-up for Reclaim Hosting and setup her domain. when I asked Maggie about her domain and Reclaim Hosting, she was at a total lost. I asked her “did you sign-up for Reclaim Hosting this past week and get your domain?” She said she was not sure how to go about getting the activity done. She said she was in class when we discussed it but it was very unclear to her. So we got started and took it step by step to create the domain. I followed the instructions and guidelines that were on the youtube tutorial which showed the signup process with Reclaim Hosting and how to install WordPress in the cPanel.
Then eventually, I asked her “did you install WordPress and get your first post edited?” She said she did not, and she was not sure how to do that. I then gave her a tutorial in installing WordPress and and then she created her first post. She said that she had started earlier and she did indeed get stuck, and she had paused a little. She then asked me for help, and I followed some of the steps that were on Reflection 5 and partially Reflection 6. Her site is up and running and she is making new posts.
I thought about making a very unusual but simple GIF. Three’s Company happens to be one of my favorite sitcoms. Even though it’s quite an old show, it’s way older than me, I never get tired of watching numerous episodes of it. Since I’ve never seen a GIF with Three’s Company, I thought creating a GIF with the three room mates would be quite amusing for me. In the show Three’s Company, it entails three room mates who all live together platonic, and they share an apartment in Santa Monica California. Their apartment building is owned by their hard-nosed landlord, Stanley Roper and his love-starved wife, Helen Roper.
In the GIF, it shows the three room mates, Chrissy Snow, Jack Tripper and Janet Wood hanging out in their living-room couch where a lot of their home time is spent chatting and teasing each other. The room mates have a fun and interesting living arrangement, and at times the drama among them get out of hand. Most of the time they struggle to get their rent money together for Mr. Roper each month. The three room mates also love to hang out at their favorite neighborhood pub The Regal Beagle.
The GIF with the room mates from Three’s Company can be used to show how ridiculous they can be at times and also how much fun they all have together hanging out in their living room.
So it seems like making a chocolate cake has gotten a whole lot easier. Use a GIF and cake is now as ABC to make.
