Awww crap. This game, this game right here has been absolutely devouring my free time. If you’ve never heard of Fallout the game takes place during an alternate post apocalyptic future where atomic warfare has decimated the world. You play a survivor from the past who was cryogenically frozen and has only recently awoken to find that the world they knew is gone, replaced by an irradiated wasteland teaming with danger at every turn.
I know Fallout is a huge series with thousands of fans but personally I never expected to get as wrapped up in it as I am. I’ve spent my most of the last few days diving into hostile vaults, fending off violent raiders out to steal my goods, and defending my settlements from invaders both human and mutant alike. Mostly because of how much I disliked Fallout 3. Honestly even now I don’t quite know what makes this one that much more enjoyable to me other than to say that it seems more approachable.
Wow I can’t believe we’re already at the last week of the semester. Guess its true what they say about time flying when your having fun. I’ve gotta say I really enjoyed this class. Not only did it give me a chance to create my own site (something I’ve wanted to do for awhile now) but it also taught me how to create my own GIFs.Though I know GIF creation was one of the first and simplest things we learned this semester it remains arguably my favorite. So in conclusion I had a blast in this class and I hope you all have an enjoyable winter break.
SPOILER WARNING IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE NEWEST BLACKISH SKIP THIS POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright are all the late comers gone? Cool. So I’ll be the first to admit that when I first saw the trailers for Blackish I didn’t hold out much hope. As much as I wanted it to be it just didn’t look funny. So you can imagine my surprise when after being forced to sit through an episode the show skyrocketed to one of my favorite TV shows of 2014. A lot of this had to do with my favorite character Charlie played by the ever hilarious Deon Cole. As much as I love Dre and his family there’s nothing like the appearance of a chaotic Charlie to spice up a scene. Which is why I was bummed when this weeks episode ended with him leaving the show. Charlie certainly didn’t leave the greatest of first impressions on Dre but through the seasons we’ve seen their friendship grow and it was nice to see how far Dre would go to save his friend’s job. Charlie’s goodbye genuinely touching and even left open the door for the occasional reappearance. As sad as it is to see Cole leave the cast, at the end of the day all we can do is follow in Dre’s example and wish him luck in whatever his next step might be. So thanks for the laughs Cole and hopefully we’ll be seeing more of you before too long.
I chose to do this ds 106 assingment to create a banner of my favorite superhero. I got the idea after seeing Taz do it last week and couldn’t help but join in on the fun. For my superhero I decided to go with Hawkeye, who while not my favorite superhero is definitely up there. I used bannersnack.com to help me make the banner and chose an image from Matt Fraction’s run of the Hawkeye comic. To be honest I’m not completely thrilled with the way the banner came out. I couldn’t find a size that perfectly fit the image and wound up settling for one that’s slightly cut off.
I’ve always liked Hawkeye but it was during Fraction’s run, which depicts not his usual heroics but the chaotic situations he finds himself in on his days off, where I fell in love with the character.
Throughout the run Clint is an absolute mess of a human being much less a superhero. The arc humanizes Clint by portraying the character as deeply flawed, he makes mistakes, hurts those closest to him, and on several occasions even fails to save the day. It also plays on the fact that Clint unlike his super powered teammates is merely an average human being. Albeit one who is extremely well trained with near perfect aim. Finally the comic was known for the daring and interesting departures it took from traditional comic storytelling. This includes an Eisner Award winning issue told entirely through the perspective of Hawkeye’s dog Lucky.
Soooooo yeah that’s why I chose to do a banner based on Hawkeye. Even though his life is an absolute maelstrom of bad choices and even worse luck he’s willing to put his life on the line even on the days where he’s not saving the world. His story is interesting because Clint is so often not the right man for the job and yet through every setback every bump and bruise he keeps fighting. Finally you gotta respect a man who knows that the greatest trick arrow of all is the boomerang arrow. Because boomerang….
