The Thornbirds

Rachel Ward - Thornbirds - ABC - 1984

This archive is not important to me, but it reminds me of a time I spent with my best friend. We were drinking and dancing around, and I made the SAME movement into a dance move. It was hilarious because we were both so drunk. Fun moment!

I do not remember any show from the 1980’s really, except the Cosby Show. When I did my research, I read that Rachel Ward is an actress who stared in the show ‘The Thornbirds.’ She played Meggie Cleary, which was a leading role. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award because of this show.

SO GOOD…SO FAR

Me going into this like ‘I got this’

I’m pleased that the CT 399 class was able to take the time out to give us advice on my class. That’s something that I really needed to hear. I’m happy that all the students kept their websites going after the CT class. That is something that I definetely plan to do.

One thing that is mentioned that I feel is very important is taking responsibility of your work that it published on the site. Everything that I have posted are topics I feel strongly about or blog posts that were sent to me that I received PERMISSION to post. As long as I have received permission to post someone else’s work, I am taking responsibility for it.

One thing I haven’t done yet is posting my constructed experiments. I used the green room one time for the ‘Inspirational Person Lesson,’ but I did not add it to my site. It is not that I am not pleased with it. I just want to find the perfect way to add it to my site (page, post, etc).

Mara Brock Akil

Mara Brock Akil is a beautiful, intelligent black woman. She is very inspiring to me because she is the woman I want to become when I get older. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from The Medill School of Journalism. She started off as a staff writer for the UPN show ‘Moesha‘ and then worked as a supervising producer for ‘The Jamie Foxx Show.’

Her first scripted show was ‘Girlfriends‘ which lasted eight seasons, then she created the spin off show “The Game.’ Her first screenplay was ‘Sparkle,’ which starred the late Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks. Her latest show she has created is ‘Being Mary Jane,’ starring Gabrielle Union. The second season will be premiering in January 2015 on BET.

I love to write and one day I wanted to write my own scripted series, similar to Being Mary Jane. All the shows Akil has created were very good and have had high ratings. She motivates me because she is the example of a successful black woman; something I am dying to be.

I chose this picture of Mara Brock Akil because she looks beautiful. Her brown skin looks flawless and her hair looks silky and full. She reminds me a lot of me in this photo; an older version. I already have the pretty brown skin with full, dark hair.

Prince & Baio

“The fact that I settled is not an admission of guilt. My lawyers and I firmly believe that the pixel art is “fair use” and Maisel and his counsel firmly disagree. I settled for one reason: this was the least expensive option available.” –Andy Baio

I agree with Baio. He used the cover photo and just made it a pixel art piece. He did not take the real cover art and kept it the same and said it was his. He used a piece and tweaked it; making it a new piece of art.

“I’m not going to explain why there’re Rastas and naked women in the paintings, except to say . . . formality . . . and, one thing leads to another. You figure it out. For me art is about continuation, autobiography (the past), what’s right next to you (the present), and the skills to interpret feelings and sensations.” – Richard Prince

In this quote, Prince is explaining why he used the piece. He is relating it to something that is close to him. If you take somebody else’s work and relate it to your life, that is fine. A piece of art can mean different things to each person. I feel if you take someone else’s work and use it for your own, you should give credit to that source.

Fair use is a good law. It protects the people who use copyrighted work for a good cause. As long as you give credit to your source, you should not be sued by anyone.
