1st In Class Photoshop Experience

This task completed today seemed pretty easy. I appreciated how class time was utilized to walk us through this simple task and understanding the interface of the program. As opposed to my other CT course where the time wasn’t taken to do so, and to this day I have failed to complete that photoshop assignment for that course.

Featured below is a meme found in our class gallery of one of my favorite childhood cartoon characters.

Flexibility in the kinds of Digital Story

The motion graphics of this is something that I do not think I am fully capable of publishing myself. I would need to be able to get assistance in at least the basics of the how to, in order to produce something like this. I pulled this piece of swipe into this post because I have so many variations and ideas of projects where I want to use typography in motion and being able to visually see the manipulation in type.

My interest in recreating something inspired from this is the incorporation of photography with the graphics, just the concept of bringing together those two worlds to create something clean and visually captivating. I believe that I can recreate this one on my own if I was to really sit and put in the man hours.

Are Memes Art?

I was prompted the question on my opinion whether or not I would consider a meme to be art.

My answer… YES. I believe that a meme can be considered art because art is is something ( visual, lyrical, anything) that gives someone the ability to relate, laugh, inflict emotion or feeling, and memes do exactly that. There are different forms of art and levels of it, but just because a meme is easily accessible and wouldn’t be considered the most elevated form of art, that shouldn’t exclude it from that category. I believe almost everything in the world is art, even cars, and if questioned on why I believe so, I feel like it could be defended. But an opinion, is just a opinion, and this is mine.

GIF / First Impression

I came into this course with the intentions of building my technical skills. I hoped to do so, to then apply it in my own visions of design. As a person who identifies as an artist just exploring different levels of design, I’m excited to experience and explore the different possibilities of the things that can be created. Then the energy and passion displayed by Professor Seslow created excitement for me, by the way he spoke about himself and his work. It made me feel almost honored and lucky to learn from someone that just believed in their work and spoke about it in such a dignified way. I felt that I would get the 1 on 1 support when necessary. I was also hoping that in this course we would soon be able to learn just a little bit of animation and motion graphics, because I have ideas and inspiration that I’ve seen using motion and text and had no idea how to execute that, so I was hoping that along the course of the semester I would learn a little of that whether it be in or out of class time.
