ZINE COLLAB in Print at the NYPL & More!

Dear CT101 Spring 2018 Students, (and Beyond!)

I hope that this message finds you all well! As the summer begins to winds down I wanted to alert you to a few things:

  1. First and foremost, our awesome class ZINE collaboration with my BMCC MMA100 Graphic Design students is now officially accessible in print and available at the NYPL at their 5th Avenue & 42nd Street location – DeWitt Wallace Periodical Room at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building . As a public space, all visitors to the NYPL can take out the zine for review. There are two copies reserved and forever archived. I will also be submitting 1 copy of the zine to the YORK College library on campus. I will let you know once it has been cataloged and is ready for viewing. You can also revisit, comment and contribute in reflection to the project by clicking on the graphic below.

LAST DAY OF CLASS!!!

Today is legit my last day of class and I couldn’t be any happier. I’ll  be graduating in June  and I’m glad I got a chance to take this class and meet professor Seslow. Learning how to make memes and gifs may prove to be helpful in any are of study especially mine. The ability to make someone laugh or smile with a personal gif or meme can be significant in psychology.

Another thing I learned in this class is to not underestimate the power of the internet. Prefessor Seslow always emphasized that the internet is the future and although it kind of already is a big part in everyone’s everyday life I feel like I got a better appreciation for it in this class. Learning about internet real estate, something that could really make you legit money.

As for the website I created I’m very proud of it and will continue to better it. Providing tips and tricks on how to get better at swimming is something I enjoy doing since I researched so much of it myself already. When I would have trouble learning a proper technique or why I wasn’t moving as fast as I thought I should. Watch out for the blog if you want to be a fast swimmer.

Last but not least now that I’m graduating I have all the time to feed my addiction to fortnite. Here is one more video of the infamous ninja.

The End Has Come!

It’s the Final week of CT101 and it has been a great journey. This class has taught me so much information I will use for my future.  I learned how to create a GIF, Animated photo, a website, and a Zine page. Wow! what an experience. I knew that taking this class would help me, but I didn’t know I would come out of the class more excited about my future. This class has helped me to prepare for my career. I was able to start my business website in this class. It is still in progress, but I am thankful for the knowledge I receive to continue to build it to the way I want it to be.

The first assignment we did was a GIF. It was so much fun creating the GIF I see on social media. I always found them interesting to do.  Now I know how to make one myself. Professor Seslow did a great job explaining step by step how to create it.

We are all in this together! That is one thing I found out in this class. I remember not knowing how to do a project and a classmate helped me figure it out. That is what I call team work! When it came to creating the Zine project, we all worked together to create a DIY magazine or Zine for the New York Public Library, where our zine can be read by all who go there.  This was a fun process. I have never created anything like this before, but I am grateful I got the opportunity to be apart of this project.

Being that this is my last semester in college, I have been thinking a lot about my future. I am glad I took this course. It has help me to tap into another world of art. Mixing my art with technology and creating something unique. I design a website for my Company which is about showcasing Upcoming artist. I know that this will be a great help to my community.  This is the end of this class, but the beginning of an amazing future!

Are Memes Art?

What is art?

According to Merriam-Webster, art is the conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production of aesthetic objects. Many people use memes in a way to express themselves and by definition it is a form of art.

In my opinion, memes are considered art as it is a way to share your thoughts and feelings in a particular subject. Reddit is a social media page with a wide variety of memes subreddits. My favorite meme themed subreddit will have to be /r/wholesomememes is it filled with kind-hearted memes and will lift your mood.

For example:
