Discussing Male Mental Health

Hi everyone. I have to discuss an important topic with everyone. I have been researching how men are most likely to commit suicide because of society.

What I mean by that is society has made it where if men talk about their feelings, then it will be looked at as a bad thing. It will make them look weak. Because of that, men are more likely to either abuse drugs and/or alcohol, or the worst case scenario, commit suicide.

I learned  last year the hard way and I’m still learning that discussing your mental health does not make you weak. In fact, people respect you for sharing your feelings. Those people who don’t are the ones that you don’t need in your life. Those who do support you (friends and/or family), hold on to them, communicate with them, let them know how you are truly doing. This can be one of the tools that can help improve your mental health. If you know someone who is suffering mentally, do not belittle him, SUPPORT HIM!! You could be the key to literally saving his life. If he ends his life because he feels like he hasn’t gotten the help he deserves, then it will be on you. You have to live with that for the rest of your life.

So guys, it’s up to you to end society’s way of thinking. Remember, it’s ok to not be ok. Do not be afraid to ask for help. Do not be afraid to truly discuss how you feel. As mentioned before, hang on to those people who supports you no matter what and toss out the people who doesn’t. And please, I’m begging you, do not commit suicide. You may not feel like you have a reason to live, but someone out there does and loves you. Thanks for reading this rant. I just needed to get this off my chest.
