While looking through the DS106 assignment, I came across one that was really interesting. The prompt of the video was to “Pick a theme and download multiple videos from Youtube that fit the theme. Cut them up and create a compilation video by putting the clips to music”. Right after I saw the prompt, I thought of a Korean drama called “While You Were Sleeping”. “While You Were Sleeping” has 32 episodes, each episode is 35 minutes.
“Hong-joo (Bae Suzy) lives with her mother and helps her run a pork restaurant. Hong-joo is haunted by seeing the future deaths of others in her dreams. What’s worse is that she does not know when the deaths will happen, but she tries to stop her dreams from becoming reality. Meanwhile, Jae-chan (Lee Jong-suk) is a rookie prosecutor. He meets Yoo-bum (Lee Sang-yeob) at the prosecutors’ office. Yoo-bum was Jae-chan’s private tutor when Jae-chan was in his adolescence, but an unfortunate incident caused Jae-chan to dislike him. Yoo-bum was a prosecutor, but he now works as a lawyer. He takes on any case that brings him money.Jae-chan and his younger brother move to new house and they become neighbors with Hong-joo. One night, Jae-chan dreams that Yoo-bum drives Hong-joo’s car and this leads to a chain of events including the death of Hong-joo’s mother and then Hong-joo. When Jae-chan senses that his dream is about to become real, he takes extreme actions to stop it. Yoo-bum becomes furious at Jae-chan, but Hong-joo hugs him and thanks him. In the aftermath of the incident, Jae-chan and Hong-joo cross paths and work together to solve other cases” (Wikipedia).
I wanted my theme to based to be dream, the horrible dream that Hong-joo experiences. I compiled different videos from different episodes including her dream and reality. I used iMovie, QuickTime Player, You Tube and iTunes to complete this project. I first looked through videos on YouTube then after finding the videos that I thought matched the theme, I used QuickTime Player to screen record. I put the recorded video on iMovie to edit and trim the video to my liking. I, then voice recorded the youtube video and inserted into iMovie accordingly. I changed the color of the videos, the saturation, the humidity etc. At last I looked through my iTunes music an picked a song called “When Night Falls” by Eddy Kim.
It was my first time using iMovie, so I had to get a lot of help from YouTube. Although it is not perfect, here is the video.
