Cleveland rapper Scott Mescudi known by his stage name “Kid Cudi” announces via twitter last night that he is canceling his anticipated tour for his upcoming fifth studio album “Speeding Bullet 2 Heaven.”
Cudi released a letter on his twitter page stating that he decided to cancel his tour due to production issues and how he needed to make more changes. It seems as though he has taken a page from Australian rapper Iggy Azalea’s book of trying to be a perfectionist. Rapper Azalea cancelled her tour back in 2014 due to the same exact issues and miscommunication with her management team. Cudi also went on to say that he is canceling the tour due to personal issues.
“I got a lot I’m dealing with at this time in my personal life too and in order for the shows to be the best experience possible as well as keeping my sanity intact, I need to regroup” Mescudi said.
He expressed how he is upset and apologizes numerous times to fans for causing such a sudden inconvenience and tells fans that he hopes to see their faces at the top of 2016. As a little token Cudi decided to release the title track from his upcoming “Speeding Bullet 2 Heaven” album on soundcloud. Produced by Plain Pat and Mescudi himself the intention of the song is to make the listener “feel something again.”
Cudi ends his letter with another sincere apology and gives a shoutout to Denver for supporting his first and last show of the new tour and promises to redo that show when he decides to go back on tour.
Although Cudi apologized numerous times and released a new song to calm fans down it didn’t stop them from bashing him online.
Fans are just not feeling the new content of the album and describe Cudi’s last concert performance as underwhelming.
“I woke up mad” Cudi fan Robert Serralta had to say “and his new song that he dropped is garbage.”
After his performance in Denver which was the first stop on the tour, award winning Denver based music news site Hey Reverb released an article describing the first and last show of the new tour.
The concert was covered by Ru Johnson who went on to say that Cudi appeared on stage with an electric guitar and performed five songs that were entirely new and rocked based. Attempting to give off Kurt Cobain vibes the audience appeared to be excited but mostly confused. Although he did perform some old hits like “Man on the Moon” and “Pursuit of Happiness” fans believe that Cudi has performed better in the past.
Fans have also speculated that Mescudi chickened out of the tour after Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco took a few jabs at him at a concert performance in Milwauke.
After a heated Twitter exchange in January, Fiasco decided to reignite the beef when he went on stage and rapped “Make sure that you listen to every rhythm that I be spittin’, unconditionally written. P.S. To all my enemies, you are now forgiven/ Except Kid Cudi, ’cause that’s not my mother—-in’ buddy/ If I see him in the streets, it’s gettin’ mother—-in’ ugly.”
Will Cudi respond to Fiasco? Will Cudi bounce back from this huge cripple in his career? Will his fans stay loyal to him? Only time will tell.
