A Fair(Y) Use Tale

“A work in the public domain is free for anyone to use”

In my opinion this quote means that as an artist I’m allowed to draw/ create images(to a certain extent) based off of popular characters that can be seen in the media. Some example of my artwork based off of comic book characters can been seen below.

The neon blue text across my images was to prevent other people from stealing and reposting my images as their own(@JerryTheMiah92 is no longer my Instagram name. If you are interested in following me the new name is @Jerry_TheMiah).

When referring to Richard Prince’s case about copyright over remixing the quote “The Supreme Court only defines fair use as needing to “alter the original with ‘new expression, meaning, or message”” stood out to me because it informs people the limitations an artist has when it comes to remixing someone else’s work
