I would consider my friends and I creative beings. We are into different aspects of art. My best friend  draws and she post it online without fear. I on the other hand usually to add my own signature at the bottom or make some type of watermark. By adding my tag at the bottom of my work assures me in a way that people will know it is mine. I used to love writing fiction, and I was interested in doing fan fiction. My fear was someone using my idea and getting noticed for it.

I want to show the world how creative of a writer I am but, but I just fear someone to take my idea and use or alter it in some way. Doctorow’s 2nd Law is “Fame Won’t Make You Rich, But You Can’t Get Paid Without It.”  I agree with what he is trying to say. In the article “We Copy Like We Breathe,” he stated that “You can sell stuff, you can ask for donations, you can perform, you can wrap works in advertisements, you can license it, you can take commissions, but whatever it is you plan to do to make money, you can’t do any of it unless people want to be your audience.” I agree because it connects to his second law. In order for myself to get noticed I have to put my work out there. You have to build up a fan base. From there the fan base you build up will buy your work because they are a fellow supporter. It is inevitable for things not to get copied on the internet. Once you upload something that right there is considered a copy. Fame will build you up and your audience will get bigger due to constant sharing or copying of your work, but every little thing done to your work you will not vet paid for. That is my interpretation of his law.

Artifact Remix Fun

The artifact I used was this plane vintagraph . I decided to put soar above and beyond because it connects with the planes. When I say soar above and beyond it is not just for the planes, but it is for the class. It just encourages you to go past your creativity standards and efforts for the class. […]

In the Archives

For public archiving, depending on the app or  website I do different things. For Instgram I would use hashtags. For public archiving, depending on the app or  website I do different things. For Instgram I would use hashtags. You can create your own unique hashtag and whenever you click that hashtag you will see all the photos and videos you posted up.For example, when it was my sister’s birthday we posted pictures and videos on Instgram and hashtagged it AlannahDay. If anyone wanted to look at pictures from that day all they have to do is look up that hashtag. For Pinterest I would pin the things I like in their own group. When I use YouTube I just subscribe to whatever channels that I find are interesting. If it is something I would definitely watch again I would like it or put it in my favorites. I also have an old photobucket account I used to use when it was popular. It has all the photos I uploaded from middle school until now. On my laptop I would organize my bookmarks so everything wouldn’t be all over the place. I would create bookmark folders for certain classes that requires research papers and for my past obsession with fanfiction. An example of mt archives is my YouTube Like playlist

As I was looking through the sets I stumbled upon one called Tv Series Show Intros. When I opened that link all my childhood memories came flooding back to me. As I scrolled through I saw tv series intros from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. One of the videos that got me super excited was the intro to Jem. Whenever it came on Tv I would watch it. It was just one of my favorite shows to watch on Cartoon Network. What I find so interesting is that back in the days cartoons had more details in the features. You can tell that the artists took their time in making their vision come to life. Nowadays anything can be considered a cartoon. I could draw a blob and make it a cartoon show. I appreciated the quality of the cartoon. You can see that they put time and effort into making the cartoons.

Jem  first aired in 1985. The animated series revolves around the lead singer of band named Jem. The rock group is called Jem and the Holograms. Jem also has a secret identity. She is also known as Jerrica, the manager/owner of Starlight Records. Using hologram technology named Synergy  she is able to disguise herself. She is able to use a hologram over herself by the earrings that she wears. The episodes mostly consist of Jerrica trying to protect her double lifestyle, while managing and being apart of a band. What I did not know was that in 2015 they will be making a Jem and the Holograms movie which I am super excited about. Hopeful’y they stick to the animated series story line and not try to add something new.

fairusememe

This image is taken from Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory movie. It is one of the most revamped images online to make a meme. I was inspired to make this poster because what exactly is fair use? In the article it stated “Everyone thinks they know what fair use is, but not even attorneys, judges, and juries can agree on a clear definition. The doctrine itself, first introduced in the 1976 Copyright Act, is frustratingly vague and continually being reinterpreted.”

If there is no clear definition  of “Fair Use” then why must people undergo a lawsuit and in some cases lose the case. Who is a judge, or an attorney to say whether something is considered fair use when there is NO clear definition!! That is what really grinds my gears. Last time I checked Judges, Juries, or Attorneys  do not have art degrees. Maybe a few do on the side, but you get where I am coming from. Having a vague unclear law is setting people up for unfair court cases. The artist Andy Baio had to end up settling out of court, while Richard Prince walked out a free man with no dent in his bank account. If the fair use concept is constantly being reinterpreted, can you imagine how many people this unclear law has negatively affected ?
