I haven’t exactly tried much public archiving, I would say I am quite an old school person who tends to stick with thumb drives to store information. I know it seems like quite an ancient mechanism to when it comes to storing information and archiving, however, like mentioned earlier, I tend to be quite old school at times, or for the most part let’s just say all the time.
Nonetheless, I am very inquisitive as to what it would be like to try a public archiving system such or a social bookmarking tools like Diigo.com or Delicious.com. My main concern though is whether people would be able to access my information and use it without my permission. Even though I would like to try a public archiving system, I guess I still have a few unclear perceptions about it.
If I consider taking a personal collection and putting it up online as a public archive, it might actually have quite a few pros to it. Also I do not use Flickr photo album and I do not have a Tumblr. However, I’ve posted a few videos on Youtube which I believe is like a public archive.
Youtube has allowed me to publish work that I’ve done and people have a chance to view my work and make comments and critiques. I am mostly grateful for Youtube since I have the opportunity to publish my work on a free site and have as many views as possible.
